Flea Control

Fleas are parasites that are very small. Protect your cat with a parasite prevention plan.

We know that outdoor cats will often bring fleas home if they are untreated though we often forget that even indoor cats can get fleas.

What are fleas?

Fleas are a small wingless jumping insect that feeds on the blood of mammals and birds.

How do fleas harm cats?

Many cats are allergic to fleas and the bite from just one flea can cause an intense itchy reaction for the cat. Scratching can result in self-trauma that causes skin lesions, hair loss and bacterial skin infections. Aside from the itch, fleas can carry parasites that can cause illnesses such as anemia.

Why is treating and preventing fleas so important?

Preventing a flea infestation is much easier than trying to treat an existing infestation, and your cat will thank you for it if he/she is not itchy.

What about treating fleas in your senior cat?

The products that we use to treat and prevent fleas are safe for use in senior patients.
