Euthanasia

Providing support, guidance, and compassionate care during a difficult time.

Although euthanasia is a very challenging and sad topic to discuss, it is an important one. While it is very hard to make this decision for our sick pet, it may be the last and greatest act of kindness we can give them.

What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?

Euthanasia is the act of ending a life intentionally to relieve pain and suffering. The right time is a very personal decision. It’s best to have this conversation with your veterinarian who can help assess your pet’s quality of life and relieve their suffering.

What drug is used?

The drug used has been around for a very long time. In the past, it was used as an anesthetic and is still occasionally used today to control seizures in dogs in extreme cases. This injection is painless, and the procedure is peaceful.

What is the cost of euthanasia?

This cost may vary. We offer options for the respectful care of your pet’s remains including cremation and ashes in an urn.

Does the clinic also provide bereavement counselling?

We can refer you to several websites to help: The Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement, The Rainbow Bridge, and Metro Pet Crematory can also offer support. As well some pet insurance companies offer bereavement counselling.
